On this special day, we celebrate the 70th birthday of our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo, His Majesty King Jigme Singye Wangchuck, the Father of Modern Bhutan and the visionary who gifted the world Gross National Happiness. His Majesty’s reign was defined by compassion, foresight, and humility, guiding Bhutan from isolation to progress while preserving our culture and harmony with nature. He led by example, placing people above power, and gifted democracy with unmatched selflessness. His deep love for the land and its people continues to inspire every Bhutanese heart. Today, we bow in gratitude for his boundless wisdom and leadership that shaped our nation’s destiny. May His Majesty’s life be blessed with endless health, happiness, and peace. Long live our beloved Fourth Druk Gyalpo, the eternal guiding light of Bhutan.

Whenever I introduce myself to people, they mention GNH and how commendable it is that happiness is prioritized in such a small himalayan country. We, the Bhutanese people are blessed to be under His Majesty’s love and care and to live in a country where the people are given the power to make choices and dream beyond the borders. On His Majesty’s birth anniversary, I along with the nation offer my deepest prayers and well wishes. May prosperity and happiness continue to bless Bhutan.
